Wearable Art Fashion Show and Exhibit

An international exhibit featuring juried wearable arts fashions, invitational artists and Design Challenge wearable art fashions. 

In the biggest little city full of lights, casinos, galmour, and a history of the longest running show full of costumed show girls, let the creativity, colors and textures of the area inspire you to create beautiful wearable art.

Juror: Daryl Lancaster

Daryl Lancaster,  received her BA in Fine Arts from Montclair State University. She was a production weaver for 10 years, selling her work through various craft markets and galleries in the Northeast. She began teaching, and found the ability to guide and inspire other handweavers in the necessary skills to create their own well fitted and well constructed garments. Daryl has been sewing for more than 50 years and teaching garment construction and related topics to weavers and other fiber enthusiasts across North America. She has written numerous articles and essays and maintains a blog linking life and the creative process.


HGA seeks to feature work which is not only of the highest caliber in craftsmanship and technical ability but which also transcends the ordinary, expresses creative design beyond process, and is visually exciting.

Entries will be evaluated on concept, design, technique, craftsmanship and creative exploration, along with understanding of the body and body movement, runway presence, and overall suitability of the technique and/or materials.

Accepted work is subject to final approval by the fashion show coordinator after the actual work arrives.  Work that exceeds the size limitation and/or differs significantly from the digital image representing it will be ineligible for the exhibition and returned to the artist.

Submission to  City Lights, Festive Nights: Wearable Art Fashion Show and Exhibit  implies that the artwork represented on the digital images will be, if chosen by the juror, available for the exhibition and that the artist understands that all accepted work, without exception, must remain for the duration of the exhibition.


This exhibit is open to all fiber artists.

Three pieces may be entered per artist. Works exhibited in previous Convergence Conference exhibits are not eligible.

Submitted work is limited to works made using fiber techniques (interlaced, felted, stitched, dyed, coiled, knotted, pulled, spun, etc.) and can be of any material. All work must be of exhibition quality, completed within the last two years (since January 2016), and not previously published in any national or international print publication.

For each entry, send an 8 inch x 8 inch (20.3 cm) Square Touch Panel with edges finished neatly and ready for display. An identification tag that is roughly 2x3 inches, needs to be attached to the back of the Square Touch Panel(see below). Write the title of the piece on the tag but NOT YOUR NAME at the top of the card leaving space below for official documentations.  Entries submitted without a Square Touch Panel will not be considered.

Work executed under classroom/educational guidance or supervision is not eligible.

Entry is a three step process.

1. Complete the online entry form.

2. Email images to the Exhibits Committee at  with your ID in the subject line.

Please print two copies of your completed entry form: one copy to send with your Square Touch Panel and one copy to keep for your records. Be sure to print the ID tags and include with the entry.

Image Requirements:

Images must be submitted as digital images of completed work. There may be two (2) images of each work; one image of the entire piece and one optional detail or full view of the front and full view of the back. Save as .jpg using the maximum quality setting with at least 300ppi. Length on the long side of the image should be approximately 3000 pixels in order to have a clear, large image.

Label the files using your last name and the title of the piece.

(example: Smith_Prettywovenpiece.jpeg  or  Smith_Prettywovenpiece_detail.jpeg)

Images may be color corrected to accurately represent the work but not enhanced in any way. Image editing is limited to cropping and adding or modifying a solid background of white, black, or gray.

The artist's name must not be visible on the digital image.

The images of accepted work will become the property of HGA and may be used for HGA publications and other promotional purposes. Non-accepted swatches will be returned only if an adequately-sized SASE with sufficient postage is included. 

Entry Fees $32 HGA member, $47 non-HGA member, Student (attach copy of student ID from accredited educational institution),no fee. 
Presentation of Work All accepted entries must be sent ready to show and exhibit. All work must be received ready to install. If work requires specific hanging device(s) or armature(s), these must be included with clear installation instructions.

The Touch Panel of accepted entries is used for jurying the exhibit and for visitors to handle. All entries must remain on display until the conclusion of the exhibit.

Shipping Shipping instructions will be sent with the acceptance notification. Work should be packed very well and shipped in a substantial reusable container. Artists are responsible for the costs of sending and the return shipping of their work and for insurance during transit. Valid credit card information is required to guarantee international return shipping.

NO hand delivery of work will be allowed. 

Awards First, second, and third place awards and the HGA Award will be selected by the juror. Additional special criteria awards may be available. For updates please check the HGA Web site

Exhibit pieces will be insured from the time of receipt for the insurance value indicated on the entry form and will be insured against all risks of physical loss or damage from any external cause while pieces are on location during the period of loan. Insurance excludes loss or damage that occurs by any event beyond the control of HGA  or the Peppermill Resort.

During shipment, the insurance regulations of the shipping company will be in effect. The artist must provide any additional insurance.



 Work on exhibit will not be for sale.


Entries received after these dates will be not be accepted.

  • Entry deadline: February 26, 2018
