MORE TRIAXIAL WEAVE
by Elizabeth Lang Harris
Tumbling
Blocks Form
The first two hex weaves
are identical (Figure 1), which makes it easy to complete the image.
Superimpose one over the other, positioning them so that the red-yellow-blue
triangles of the lower layer are visible through the frames of the top
hex.

Second Layers of the Tumbling Block Form
Figure 2: First Two Layers
Superimposed
You will notice that each
color runs in only one direction. Superimposing the two hex weaves results
in .gaps. in each side that show us where to position the missing
strips for each color. The mechanics for adding the third hex weave
(the lashers) is the same as for the spot form above.
Mark several of the framed
triangles so that you do not lose your bearing.
Figure 3 shows the completed
tumbling blocks pattern.

Star
Form
Make
two identical hex weaves using two or three colors as shown in Figure
1.
Figure 1: First Two Hex
Weaves for the Star Form
Rotate one of the hex weaves and superimpose it over the other one. The blue strips are weaving around and framing the yellow stars (Figure 2). Figure 3 shows the completed mad weave.

Hex Weaves Figure 3: Completed Star Form.
The three forms of hex weave.spot, tumbling blocks, and star.all look quite different, but they are all woven the same way. The patterns are all color-and-weave effects.
