HGA offers the Certificates of Excellence to its members
- to provide guidelines to evaluate individual skills
- to encourage research and exploration in the fiber arts
- to recognize technically qualified weavers, spinners, dyers, and basketmakers
Certificates of Excellence are awarded in Handweaving, Handspinning, Dyeing, and Basketmaking.
COE Examination schedule:
- Dyeing - Spring, even years
- Weaving - Fall, even years
- Basketmaking - Spring, odd years
- Spinning - Fall, odd years
Details about scheduled examinations and deadlines is in the "Update" section of HGA's Shuttle Spindle & Dyepot magazine. Applicants must use the current handbook and forms for the examination. Contact the HGA office to verify these items.
The Certificate of Excellence Packets for Handweaving, Handspinning, Dyeing, and Basketmaking contain the respective COE Handbook, Bibliography, and Application Forms. Each packet costs $12.00. Purchase COE packets at HGA’s eShop.
